•  MVACL Is a non-profit organization providing support to adults with developmental disabilities. It is one of many across Canada , that relies on funding from the Ontario Ministry of Community & Social Services, membership fees, donations, grants and fundraising.

•  You can purchase a voting membership for $15.00

•  MVACL has 7 Residential homes, (6 which are in Barry's Bay and 1 in Killaloe) and 1 Respite home

•  We provide 30 living spaces; 18 are fully accessible to those with physical disabilities

•  An inclusive community is one in which all people, regardless of intellectual or physical ability, can take part in all of the affairs of everyday life

•  MVACL assists young adults with their transition from high school into the community

•  We employ 80 people from Barry's Bay and the surrounding area? 22 full-time and 58 part-time positions

•  MVACL sponsors a fully integrated community center called Activities +

•  We connect people to other services & supports, community volunteers, and paid employment

•  MVACL have a volunteer Board of Directors that currently has 8 members

•  We operate an integrated summer day camp

•  In 2007 we celebrated our fortieth year of service to our community.

•  Our Light Lunch Express teaches skills to transitional youth with intellectual disabilities.

•  In the summer of 2008 with a grant from The Ontario Trillium Foundation, we opened up our Candy Store " Sweet Memories" providing job skills to transitional youth with intellectual disabilities

VISION

We envision a community that welcomes and values the participation and contribution of all its citizens.  We seek a community without barriers, where people with intellectual disabilities can engage in meaningful work, obtain decent and affordable housing, and have full access to the resources and opportunities that will make each day purposeful and help each citizen realize their dreams and aspirations.
